Never say Never!!

I have been thinking about the "Moments of Truth" in my life.  This past month we have dealt with the changes in relationships, realities of age( my Grandmother is 96!),  struggles with finances, health, and death of those to young to die.  All these have caused me to ponder on the purpose of life and the decisions we make that change our lives. One of those moments happened in 2007.

In the canyon near our home!
In July of 2007, I was overweight and recovering from having my 6th child. I felt frustrated and discouraged about myself. So on a whim one day I decided to train for a marathon!  Yes 26.2 miles of running!!! I had never run before.  Of course I had run the mile in high school (which by the way I thought I was going to die doing!!) or run because I needed to get somewhere quickly (to catch a falling child) But never had I run just for the sake of running. Many people thought I was crazy for setting such a goal, I think that I wanted to prove that I was still alive!  So why not try something that scared me to death?  I know it makes no logical sense, but at the time it made perfect sense!

A cake my husband had made for me!
So I embarked on a journey of training, eating different, sleeping different (getting up very early) and being dedicated to staying consistent and focused on a goal.  I was not prepared for the way this would change my life!

I DID IT!!!!

Some of the photos from the finish line area....

Since this time I have been able to complete 11 marathons including running the Boston Marathon, many half marathons, many long distance relays, made many friends, and Become active, healthy and strong!  I am now a certified personal trainer!  I want to help others feel and experience the joy of being able to accomplish something that seems so impossible.....and turn those doubts and fears into something POSSIBLE!

There are going to be times in your life when people will tell you that you can't accomplish your dreams.....this is what I tell them..."Never say Never!!!"

The New Year has begun!

Welcome to the New Year!!  There are many exciting things about the start of a new year.  The thing I like the best is it is a time to start a"NEW".  Changing and trying "NEW" things, setting and accomplishing "NEW" goals,  learning and growing in "NEW" ways.  So I have decided for 2013 to do 13 things that I have always wanted to do.  13 Things that will challenge me, stretch me,  and yes maybe even scare me out of my comfort zone.  So to start to the year off I am writing this blog.  This is definitely one of those "scare me to death" challenges.  Stretching my comfort zone to the point that I wonder if I can really do this.  But regardless of the fear here it goes......
